"This whole lineup is out of order!"
There's a functional batting order to be made out of the Cubs starters, but Craig's not using it

We've come to learn over time that batting orders are mostly unimportant. They're really just things that hitters and fans and media obsess over, but have little bearing on your team's offense. Well, at least that's what Cubs' manager Craig Counsell tells us. He has basically said that a team should just bat its hitters in order of talent, to make sure the best hitters get the most at bats.
Well, he should tell Cubs manager Craig Counsell that.
It seems silly to worry about a team's batting order this early in the season. Their best all-around hitter, Seiya Suzuki isn't even in the lineup these days. The guy who might very well end up being their best pure hitter still doesn't have 75 career at bats.
So far, Michael Busch has led off in every game. It's something he did 52 times last season. And he did it in the playoffs. Why stop something that works so well?
Well, I'm not sure it really works so well.
