Bears fall an inch (and a mile) short of the Packers
I guess it's progress that they hung around long enough to get fans mad about one play

I don’t know why the NFL insists on making the Bears play at Lambeau Field at night every year. I guess early in the season it’s to try to cut down on the number of corpulent Packers fans who sweat to death during the games. But here we are, once again, up in the land of cheese and farting cattle (hence the old Wisconsin tourism slogan “Come smell our dairy-air,” at night, on NBC.
Maria Taylor is the only person on the NBC pregame to pick the Bears to win. She says it was to “keep things spicy” which I assume was in honor of her good friend Dan McNeil.
NBC’s opener is a filmed piece from the vastly overrated Brat Stop in Kenosha and all of the fan soundbytes were painfully prewritten.
“You can’t write the story of the NFL without the Packers and Bears,” Mike Tirico. Honestly, I’d really like to try it. I mean, you can write about 50 Super Bowls without having to mention either of them.
The Bears win the toss and defer. Come on, take the ball! Give Trestan Ebner a chance to field the kickoff eight yards deep in the end zone and return it all the way to the nine.
