The Bears hadn’t won a game in 347 days. Five days ago they blew a 28-7 lead to one of the (other) worst teams in football. Hot takey podcasters were predicting the end of the Matt Eberflus Era as soon as today. A lot was going bad.
And then, apparently DJ Moore had enough of that shit.
He caught eight passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, was ruled out of bounds by a spurious call that Prime Video conveniently could not find a replay of, and he was overthrown in the end zone on another one. He could have had five touchdowns.
But three was enough as the Bears ran out of running backs, nearly ran out of defensive backs and tried to blow a 24 point lead, but they didn’t, and for the first time since week seven last year they got a win, 40-20 over the Washington Commanders.
The Bears needed it. The Flus needed it. We all needed it.
In the fourth quarter of the 41-10 loss to Kansas City, Justin Fields suffered an apparent concussion. Moore was concerned enough about Justin staggering around the field, that he led him to the sidelines.
For some reason, Fields returned for the Bears’ final possession. He led the Bears to their only touchdown on a nine yard pass to Moore, and since that “concussion,” Fields is 48-70 passing for 674 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception in eight quarters plus one possession.
Hello.
