The Cubs' draft success is hilariously overrated

Yesterday I suggested...no, I demanded...that the Cubs trade for Tigers' ace Tarik Skubal. If making one panicky bold move and then retreating and hiding behind the couch for the rest of the offseason is going to continue to be a thing, aim high.
There were two problems with that suggestion/demand. First, it would cost the Cubs a big chunk of their overly beloved minor league prospect cache. Second, the Tigers probably wouldn't want any of it anyway.
On the Cubs' pod last week, I talked about if you take a quick look back at the Cubs' drafts under Theo Epstein and then Jed Hoyer their success rate is astonishingly low, and the few draft picks who have made it to the big leagues and been successful almost exclusively share a very common set of traits.
They were first round picks, nearly all drafted in the top half of the first round, they went to college and they're white.
