Bears done in by thumb luck
You have to admire Tyson Bagent's moxie, but we don't really have to watch it, do we?

The 2023 Bears’ stretch goal of “becoming last year’s Lions” continues apace with yesterday’s hard luck loss to a not very good Vikings team.
It’s a game they very well might have won if not for a third quarter injury to Justin Fields when he tried to throw the ball away and appeared to (brace yourself for a complicated medical term) smush his passing hand as his facemask was driven into it by some rather large (though not entirely historically accurate) Vikings.
The Bears x-rayed that hand and it didn’t show any fractures, but despite that preliminary optimistic long-term prognosis it swelled up like a tick and Justin was unable to grip the ball well enough to return. The concern is that he may have torn ligaments in his thumb, which could mean anything from “tape it up and deal with it” to “it’s fucked.”
It was terrible timing, because in the second half the Bears had begun to finally shut down the Justin Jefferson-less Minnesota offense and had figured how to slow down the Viking pass rush, aided by an injury to pass rusher Marcus Davenport. All it takes for the Bears to make some progress is for their opponents to lose their best players to injury.
