The Bears celebrated their first home win in 392 days (yikes) with a thorough whipping of the Raiders, 30-12, and there were a lot of positives to take from the game.

The defense played well for the third straight week. They allowed the Raiders just 235 total yards, and only one touchdown. That touchdown drive was in garbage time led by wispy mustached third string Raiders’ quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Last week, they allowed just 275 yards against Minnesota. It’s impressive, especially given that they do it without any semblance of a pass rush.

Jaylon Johnson had the second interception of…his career? And he returned it for a touchdown to ice the game with 5:36 left. He decided it was so much fun that followed it up with another interception on the very next possession just one minute and four seconds of game time later.

It’s true. Johnson is one of the better corners in the league, but he had just one interception (in week two of the 2021 season against Joe Burrow) in his first 43 games. Well, now he’s got three.

Offensively, D’Onta Foreman had a big day, and he’s proof that the Bears don’t need a running quarterback to have a productive running game. Since Justin Fields dislocated his thumb early in the second half last week against the Vikings, Foreman has rushed 25 times for 130 yards (5.2 average) and two touchdowns.

The big story, naturally, was undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent’s first career start.
