Pace yourself, Jed

Can't add all of the talent before Christmas, we might start to get bored

Pace yourself, Jed

Things are going great.

Just yesterday I laid out just what a wet turd of an offseason the Cubs have had, even as people were lauding them for signing one of the worst hitters in the National League the last two seasons, and a number four starter. But, I cautioned that there was still time for Jed Hoyer to get to work and we should wait before we start boiling the tar and plucking the feathers.

Still time for the Cubs to get a lot better
The Cubs left the winter meetings with a pair of moves that were applauded—well, at least golf clapped at—by “experts” and the fanbase. They signed former Dodgers MVP Cody Bellinger with the hopes that he’ll finally get healthy and play more like he did when he was one of the best players in baseball from 2017 through 2019.

Well, for a team in dire need of a catcher (like the Cubs), Monday was a very bad day for them.

All along I thought the prospect cost for A’s catcher Sean Murphy was going to be too much for the Cubs to match.

Well, turns out, it wasn’t all that much. Whoops.
