The Cubs won a series in Cincinnati and may have lost their second best player
While the D'bags are edging the Cubs with late game heroics, it's inevitable that the Cubs will clinch a playoff spot this week, maybe as soon as tomorrow. And something happened on Sunday to help remove the Cubs' bullpen struggles as their biggest postseason concern.
While Petecrow Armstrong has been the player in baseball for most of this season, Alex Bregman has been the second best hitter in the National League since the All-Star Break. The Cubs had a team bonding trip on Thursday when they went to Churchill Downs in Louisville to see Alex's horse (remember, baseball players have more money than they know what to do with) run and win a race there. And now, Alex looks like that horse kicked him in the face.
Michael Busch, who hasn't hit a ball hard all season hit a check swing foul ball off of the ground and then right off of Alex's face in the fifth inning yesterday. Bregman left the game with a big welt growing under his eye and his nose gushing blood before he could even walk the few steps to the dugout.
The Cubs took him to one of the hospitals that Mitch McConnell was wheeled into the Senate chamber last week to vote to underfund, to get some tests to determine the severity of the injury.
I'm not sure we need a doctor to diagnose if this is bad or not?
