It's one thing to have depth, it's another to have to use it
Cade's gone and Seiya can't get back fast enough

The Cubs were happy to let the media brag about just how much starting rotation depth they had built because they knew they are going to need it. I'm not sure they expected Cade Horton to throw just 90 pitches this season (60 strikes!), but when he left his Friday start in Cleveland after just one inning, it sure looks like he's done for the season and Colin Rea is back in the rotation about two months before the Cubs figured he'd be needed.
The Cubs, and Horton himself, put an optimistic spin on the injury. Horton said he had some discomfort in his wrist and then a few pitches later felt it in his forearm, and that he stopped throwing immediately and never heard a telltale pop. In his mind, it's a minor injury and he caught it before anything really bad could happen.
Is that possible?
Yeah, I guess.
