I have never been less engaged in the Bears

Did you know the Bears play a fake game on Sunday? You probably do. You probably have been paying attention. I can tell you that until very recently it was completely lost on me. The NFL season is roaring towards us and I have allowed myself to be blissfully unaware of its approach.

I knew training camp was underway, but I chose not to consume coverage of it.

And that's not Ben Johnson or Caleb Williams' fault. It's not even George McCaskey or Ryan Poles' fault. Though I'm sure if I thought for a few seconds, I'd come up with reasons to blame the last two.

It is anybody's fault?

Why do I find myself so unenthused about the goings on of the charter franchise of the NFL?

It's not that simple. Because I am looking forward to this season. I want to see what Caleb and the rest of the Bears can do with a real head coach and a mostly functional offensive line. I do want to see them return to a more aggressive defense after a few years of Matt Eberflus' "let them drive inside the 10 and then we'll get serious" shit.

It turns out, I'm not actually unenthused about the actual team or the players.

I just really fucking hate the media that cover the Bears.
