Dansby finished just strong enough to enable Cubs delusions
He's a good player to have, but the Cubs need to come to terms with what he actually produces

The Athletic doesn’t really do humor. I know, because when I wrote for them Jon Greenberg had to put a disclaimer on my column because the readership didn’t seem to get that there were jokes in it.
Normally, I’d say that your readers not getting that you were making jokes is a pretty strong indictment on your jokes, but if you’ve ever dipped a toe into any comment thread on any Athletic article you’ll know that the commenters there are a special brand of dense.
However, I have to give them credit. Last week The Athletic published something that made me laugh out loud. I had no idea Sahadev was doing satire now.

I laughed and laughed. It felt so good to read a headline clearly meant to amuse with absurdity.
Right?
Ehh…well, apparently not.
Because the article that followed really did try to make a case that Dansby not being terrible in the second half was proof that the Cubs no longer have to worry that he’s in decline.
Well, about that.
